No New Friends!

I now understand why pastors struggle to make and to have friends. Most of us spend our time being "friendly" yet it is becoming clearer (to me) as to why some of us struggle making new friends.

Friends...Lend me your ears.

I've known my friend, Avery, for nearly 30 years. Our friendship goes back to the 6th grade. The older I get the more I treasure the "familiarity" of this friendship. He has known me before the title and even though I serve as his pastor now....we have not stop being friends. During this time there have been many people that have come in and out of my life. To be fair, there is a normal "ebb and flow" to relationships (remember the saying that some people come into your life for a reason, season, or lifetime"). In my experience, there are 3 main reasons why your pastor may find it difficult to "hang out" with you or be your best friend.

1. Humanity & Divinity

2. Unfair expectations

3. You Can't Handle the Truth
